NOW THAT WE KNOW THE FIXTURES, WE’RE GOING TO BREAK DOWN EACH GAME AND TRY TO PREDICT HOW EACH WILL TURN OUT…
INVERNESS V KILMARNOCK – SUNDAY 24th APRIL
Of the three games that we have played against the highlander’s this season, Killie have the advantage with 2 wins compared with Inverness’ one. Both of Killie’s wins have come at home however, which is unfortunately not where this game is being played. The game in the highlands was a close one, with Ian Vigurs on the scoresheet twice before Mark Connolly halved the deficit with five minutes to go. All in all, Inverness should have the advantage going into this game based on previous results, however Killie have performed better away from home all season. This game is also live on TV and so this should increase the pressure on both teams to gain a vital three points. Taking maximum spoils back to Ayrshire would be a huge confidence booster for Killie to take into the rest of the season’s fixtures.
PREDICTED OUTCOME: DRAW
HAMILTON V KIMARNOCK – SATURDAY 30th APRIL
It could be said that this is the biggest game out of the remaining fixtures, due to the fact that the Lanarkshire club currently occupy the spot above Killie. Unfortunately for Killie fans, Hamilton hold the bragging rights so far this season, with two wins to our one. However, this is not as bad as it first sounds, because both of Hamilton’s wins have come at Rugby Park, whereas our win was at New Douglas Park. So, taking into account this, Killie should have the advantage going into this fixture. The outcome of this game could easily determine what league KiIlie will be playing in next season.
PREDICTED OUTCOME: WIN
KILMARNOCK V PARTICK THISTLE – SATURDAY 7th MAY
This could possibly be seen as the hardest game of the lot, as Killie have yet to triumph over Thistle yet this season. The clubs have shared two draws at Firhill, however Killie were soundly trounced 5-2 when the teams met at Rugby Park in November. As this game is at Rugby Park, Partick will have their tails up given their last result here. However, it could be hoped that taking into account the draws, if Killie turn up on the day, the boys in blue could gain at least one valuable point in their fight to stay in the division.
PREDICTED OUTCOME: DRAW
DUNDEE V KILMARNOCK – SATURDAY 7th MAY
There have been mixed results in this fixture throughout this season. Dundee hit Killie for four on the opening day of the season, a game that will stay in the minds of blues fans for a long time. In the reverse fixture at Dens Park in October, it was Killie who triumphed 2-1, with Magennis and Smith giving the away side the victory. In February, the teams settled for a goalless draw at Rugby Park. So overall throughout the season, the teams have been level in terms of points. With the fixture being played in Dundee, this will give Killie hope that they can snatch a precious victory for the second time this season. However, as Killie fans will be well aware, it all depends on which Dundee team turns up on the day.
PREDICTED OUTCOME: LOSS
KILMARNOCK V DUNDEE UNITED – SATURDAY 14th MAY
The Killie faithful might not like or appreciate the thought, but this game could be all too reminiscent of the infamous visit of Falkirk just mere seasons ago. With a win and a draw for each team this season, this game could not be tighter to call. Even though Killie have not lost to United at home this season, fans will still be scarred by the 5-1 demolishing that the team received only back in January at Tannadice. With this game also being on TV, the stakes could not be higher but it could be said that the home advantage may pay off for Killie in the end.
PREDICTED OUTCOME: WIN
