The curtain comes down on a fantastic season with a controlled victory over an inexperienced Hearts side. A goal from Lee Erwin was enough to give us the three points and mean we finish the season with our highest ever points tally in the ‘three for a win’ era. Here’s four things to note…
TSHIBOLA SHOWING SIGNS?!
The jury was still out on Aaron Tshibola heading into this game. He had failed so far to live up to his big hype and seemed to be struggling to make an impact. However, he saved the best till last as he put in a fantastic display in the middle of the park. He was cool and composed, and looked like a younger Mulumbu. Clearly he has been learning from his fellow countryman and could be a big success next season if he stays with us.
COULD HAVE BEEN 10
Although the scoreline looks like it was close game, it really wasn’t. From the first minute to the last we were pretty dominant and spurned a number of glorious chances to add to the scoreline. Boydy in particular had three or four that he would normally have put away on any other day, but it just wasn’t to be.
Crowd numbers both home and away have been steadily increasing during our fantastic run this season, and this topped the lot. Over 5500 Killie fans were inside Rugby Park to watch this victory. Hopefully the football and atmosphere will entice these people to come back more often next season and beyond.
THE PERFECT FINALE
Although we couldn’t make any moves in the table on the final day, it was still important that we sign off the campaign with a good performance. The boys certainly gave us that and it has already left us wanting more. Next season can’t come quick enough!
